What a Night!
The
ballroom was alive with youthful energy as guests ushered in the
20th Anniversary of Seattle's Crystal Ball on September 20th.
Boasting a record breaking number of performance teams, it's pretty
certain the young outnumbered the old. Our many thanks to the
Pacific Ballroom Dance Team, The Ballroom Dance Company Formation
Team, Orion Ballroom's Youth Team and finally veteran dance team
from USA Dance (NW Chapter). The evening audience delighted in your
many demonstrations. You were all spectacular!

It
was especially gratifying to have the chance to see not one, but two
featured performers at this year's event. Guests were treated to a
beautiful Ballroom Show with Mark and Sunnie, as well as an
electrifying Latin Show with Yegor and Katia. Our many thanks for
some really splendid dancing, and, best wishes for continued success
in your competitive careers.
Record Breaking Entries in the Jack & Jill Contests
The Jack & Jill contests are always great fun and huge entertainment
for the audience, but, this years participation was off the charts!
Many of the team members got involved in the fun, making them
enormous in size. Some events had as many as 17 guys and gals
entered! Because they are totally unpredictable, they make for great
entertainment. Congratulations to all our winners!

Our talented staff works hard for the guests to ensure that everyone
has the best time possible. Many thanks to our talented DJ, the
incomparable Mr Terry "Wild Wild" West of Cut-A-Rug Productions.
Congratulations to Terry on a well deserved nomination to the Swing
DJ's Hall of Fame!
Our MC, Michael Wachal certainly did have his work cut out for him
during the daytime session. With most of the Canadian competitors
struggling with a long wait to cross the border, and therefore
arriving late, he had to juggle events, and find ways of buying time
thus allowing our Canadian friends time to get to the Ballroom. He
managed, in his usual charming manner to keep things going until
they arrived. Thanks Michael for neatly handling this otherwise
stressful situation. The audience certainly enjoyed the extra social
dance time. (something they are not generally treated to during the
daytime session)
Equally demanding were the jobs of our outstanding judges. With our
alternate judge, Roland Michtchenko, experiencing the same hold up
at the border, the rest of the panel faired quite nicely until his
arrival. Our many thanks to Neil Gilligan, Elena Zakharova, Shannon
Knauss and Mr. Michtchenko. You were all fabulous!
Registrar Rae Ellen Reas was assisted by Anita Williams, and Alannah
Sinclaire handled the important duty of Scrutineer without a hitch.
Anita also assisted at the door and was accompanied by Megan Reas
and Tom Park. The program turned out beautiful thanks to the efforts
of Joanne Love.
Thank you one and all for your diligence in making the 20th annual
Crystal Ball a big success!
