Erik and Rickie Steal the Show at the 21st annual Crystal Ball
Shining Stars Erik and Rickie
There were many outstanding showcases at this year's Crystal Ball,
however, none were as anticipated as those by "America's Got Talent"
stars Erik Linder and Rickie Taylor.
Erik Linder (age 9) and Rickie Taylor (age 8) started ballroom
dancing at the young age of four, and were the youngest stars of
this season's "America's Got Talent".
They are proficient in 10 different dances: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot,
Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble
and, of course, the Jive.
This charming couple, made the 20 act cut (the semi-finals) on this
season's "America's Got Talent" and soon became America's
sweethearts.
This year's Crystal Ball audience was given the distinct privilege
of seeing Erik and Rickie perform not the originally planned two
numbers, but actually three routines. During the Dinner Show they
danced their award winning Paso Doble and a lively Jive routine.
Then, about an hour later they came back with an impromptu Cha-Cha.
Our many thanks to Erik and Rickie (and their parents) for allowing
this year's Crystal Ball guests the opportunity to see first hand
what made them such a big hit on this year's "America's Got Talent"
Our many thanks to all the other
performing couples
This year's Crystal Ball was proud to give you an All Star line-up
of veteran competitive couples as your evening's entertainment.
Represented were Portland, Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. It was a high
energy evening of entertainment, featuring all your Latin and
Ballroom favorites. No matter what you preference, there was
something for everyone.
Our many thanks go out to:
GLEB MAKAROV & SUSAN SIDMAN
ZAC LIM & KAREN AU
NORBERT TESTON & JESSICA LINDSEY
ZILLION WONG & SARAH LIANG
TERRY IANAKIEV & MASHA STARICHENOK
SIMEON & KORA STOYNOV
Teams, Teams, Teams!!!
Always a favorite with the audience, there were three outstanding
dance teams performing a total of five numbers at this year's
Crystal Ball.
Our many thanks go out to:
PACIFIC BALLROOM FORMATION TEAM
THE BALLROOM DANCE COMPANY TEAM
BRIAN JOLLY'S EXHIBITION TEAM
We were delighted with your performances!
Those that made it
happen
Our talented staff works hard for the guests to ensure that everyone
has the best time possible. Many thanks to our talented DJ, the
incomparable Mr. Terry "Wild Wild" West of Terry West Productions.
Our Master of Ceremonies for the daytime was Michael Wachal. He
managed, in his usual charming manner, to keep things moving right
along so that everything stayed on schedule. In the evening he
handed the microphone over to the vivacious Miss Shannon Knauss.
(who, we might add, was in rare form). Nice to have her back as part
of our evening entertainment.
Equally demanding were the jobs of our outstanding judges. Our many
thanks to Don Walker, Cora Lyn Uczekaj, Shannon Knauss, Loretta
Turin, Brian Jolly and Roberto Villamar. A special thank you to
Shannon who pulled double duty by judging the day session and
switching to MC for the evening session.
You were all fabulous!
Registrar duties were handled by Anita Williams, and Alannah
Sinclaire handled the important duty of Scrutineer without a hitch.
We made a switch this year to guys working the door. Thanks to our
handsome fellows Ryan Shanahan and George Love for your great work.
The program turned out beautiful thanks to the efforts of Joanne
Love, who also took on Marshalling duties during the competition
portion of the event.
Thank you one and all for your diligence in making the 21st
Anniversary celebration of the Crystal Ball a big success!
